Region 85 (Lake Forest, Foothill Ranch, Portola Hills)

Required Player Play Time

EVERYONE PLAYS – 3/4 OF EACH GAME
  • All players MUST play at least 3/4 of each game unless prohibited by roster size.
  • No player may play 4 quarters unless all teammates play at least 3 quarters.
  • No player may be limited to 2 quarters more than once (including post-season play) unless all teammates have already been so limited.
  • 9U and 10U Goalkeepers MUST play at least one quarter in the field.
  • Substitution rules may not otherwise be changed because of roster size.

LF Champions Invitational

Region 85 Teams from the 10U, 12U and 14U divisions, in ‘good standing’ will be invited to participate in a fall post season tournament – The LF Champions Invitational Tournament. Teams participating in the LF Champions Invitational Tournament, could represent Region 85 at other post season tournaments. Teams may be reviewed on categories/factors such as:

Team/Players
  • Overall Sportsmanship
  • No Cautions/No Send Offs received
Coaches:
  • Proper certification (volunteer application, safe haven, concussion awareness, coach certification)
  • Player evaluations completed and returned on-time as requested by Division Coordinator
  • Avoiding match blowouts
  • Following Region 85 guidelines (i.e. 3/4 play rule, no dogs, coach id cards, player safety, etc.)
  • No Coach ejections received
Parents:
  • Volunteering in the concession stand
  • Volunteering at picture day
  • Volunteering as a referee
  • Number of Region Volunteer Points earned
  • No Spectator ejections received

Score Reporting

  • Coaches must report match scores within 24 hrs
  • Score reporting password is posted on the website under schedules.
  • Some age groups do not require scores to be reported (i.e. 5U, 6U, 8U)
  • Region matches scheduled as ‘Friendly’ do not require scores to be reported

Snack Bar Schedule

Region 85 teams in the 10U through 19U divisions and all Extra teams are required to complete a shift in the Snack Bar at the Lake Forest Sport Park as an eligibility requirement for post season play.

Each team is asked to provide at least two adult volunteers for the Snack Bar during their assigned date/time.  Snack Bar shifts are approximately two hours.  High school age minors are welcome to volunteer (as a substitute for one of the adult volunteers) to satisfy school service hours requirements.  The current season Snack Bar schedule can be found by following the link below:

ID Cards

All approved Coaches (Head Coach and Assistant Coach) will be issued a Region 85 season specific Coach ID Card. Coach ID cards along with a completed team lineup, must be presented to the Referee, prior to the start of each match.

Coaches must wear their ID cards, making them easily visible on their upper body, during all games.

Coaches should contact their Division Coordinator regarding ID Card issues.

Coaching Area

Coaches are required to stay within the Coaches' Area during the game, REGARDLESS of whether the area is marked on the field. In Region 85, this area is defined as a space 1-1½ yards back from the touch line and 10 yards either side of the midway line. (Coaches should use the center circle as a guide when the area is not marked.)

Spectators are required to stay 3 yards back from the touch line.
