PROCEDURES FOR NEW REFEREES

AYSO is a large volunteer run organization that works with hundreds of thousands of children throughout the country. Through our widely acclaimed Safe Haven program we take special precautions to screen and properly train the thousands of volunteers who work with our children.

As part of this program all referees are required to:

  • Submit a signed Volunteer Application Form (VAF) every year.
  • Be formally Safe Haven certified by AYSO
  • Be properly referee trained and certified by AYSO. at a level appropriate for the age of the children they are working with.
The referee and Safe Haven certifications, and annual VAF, must be properly recorded in the National database (eAYSO) or referees will not be permitted to participate in AYSO games.

The simple procedures that should be followed to satisfy these requirements can be found here: Procedures for New Referees

ABOUT YOUR REF # AND PIN #_

In order to register for training classes, or request game assignments in R85 you must have a R85 Ref # and Pin #.

You will initially be issued a temporary Ref # (> 7000) which will allow you to register for classes and update your personal information, e.g. email address, Pin #, etc., but will not allow you to signup for games.

When you are certified as a referee you will be issued a permanent Ref # which stays with you year to year. If you no longer wish to referee in R85 you can make yourself inactive, or permanently delete your Ref #.
